## Rookie Running Back Brashard Smith Navigates NFL Training Camp "Eye-Opener"

**Kansas City Chiefs rookie running back embraces the challenges of professional football.**

The transition from college to the NFL is never easy, and Kansas City Chiefs rookie running back Brashard Smith is quickly learning that firsthand. As training camp intensifies, Smith is immersing himself in a new world of demands and expectations. 

"Eye-opener," Smith said of his experience so far. "I feel like this is a new experience for sure. College is nothing like it. But I say just gotta grasp on and you got to be ahead, too.”


Smith's journey to the NFL started as a wide receiver in college. In 2024, he made a switch to running back, proving his versatility by rushing for 1,332 yards and 14 touchdowns. While that success translated from the collegiate level, Smith recognizes the distinct challenges of professional football.

"Just being patient," he added. "I'll say sometimes I know I'm fast, so I'll be really quick sometimes. Sometimes I could just be a little slower, and everything will read for itself.” 

Smith brings a much-needed burst of speed to the Chiefs' backfield, alongside free agent signing Elijah Mitchell.  This dynamic duo has the potential to inject life into the team's run game.  

As Smith navigates the complexities of Andy Reid's offensive playbook, he’s demonstrating adaptability and quick learning. 


With a fresh perspective and relentless work ethic, Brashard Smith is proving himself worthy of his place on the Chiefs roster.
